Types of Scientific Journals


Types of Scientific Journals – There are several types of scientific journals, namely national journals, accredited national journals, international journals, and also reputable international journals.

1. National Journal
This scientific journal is published periodically and has the following criteria:

Written in accordance with the provisions or scientific principles and scientific ethics.
Have an ISSN (International Standard Serial Number).
Has an online version of the publication.
Managed in a professional manner such as accuracy of publicity reports, availability of writing instructions, completeness of journal identity, and others.
Aims to accommodate, provide information or publish the results of scientific research or scientific concepts in a particular scientific discipline.
This National Journal is aimed at the scientific community or researchers who are within the scope of relevant scientific disciplines.
Published by scientific publishers, scientific institutions, professional organizations, or specialized institutions such as universities and their units.
Write using standard Indonesian and / or English with abstract writing in Indonesian.
Contains scientific papers from writers from at least two different institutions.
Has an editorial board consisting of experts in their fields and from at least two different institutions.

2. Accredited National Journal
An accredited national journal is a scientific periodical published journal that obtains accredited status from the Directorate General of Higher Education (Dirjen Dikti) or the head of LIPI, and meets the criteria as a national journal with a validity period according to the results of accreditation.

3. International Journal
International journals are scientific periodicals which have the following criteria:

Scientific work published in writing in accordance with the conditions of writing and has met scientific principles and scientific ethics.
Have an ISSN (International Standard Serial Number).
Written using the official language of the United Nations (UN), namely English, French, Arabic, Russian, or Chinese.
Has an online edition.
Managed in a professional manner such as accuracy of publicity reports, availability of writing instructions, completeness of journal identity, and others.
The editorial board or editorial board consists of experts in their fields and come from at least 4 different countries.
Scientific papers published in one issue (issue) written by authors from different countries.

4. Reputable International Journal
Reputable international journals are periodical published scientific journals written using the official language of the United Nations (UN), namely English, French, Arabic, Russian, or Chinese, with additional conditions already indicated by reputable international databases such as Scopus or the Web of Science, and have an impact factor from ISI Web of Science (Thomson Reuters), Scimago Journal Rank (SJR), or have an impact factor (SJR) from SCImago Journal and Country Rank with the lowest Q3 (quartile three).
